Indexable Gundrills

Replaceable carbide inserts reduce downtime and tool resetting.

Gole indexable gun drills replace the brazed or solid carbide tip of a conventional gun drill with a mechanically clamped, replaceable carbide insert.

Recommended Materials

Steel (Carbon & Alloy)Indexable gun drills perform reliably across the full range of carbon and alloy steels. Insert grade selection is matched to material hardness and cutting speed. For through-hardened or case-hardened components, confirm material hardness at time of enquiry.

Cast Iron (Grey & Nodular) Both grey and nodular cast iron are well-suited to indexable gun drilling. The brittle chip produced by cast iron is managed effectively by the coolant-through flushing design. Higher feed rates are achievable compared to solid carbide tools at equivalent diameters.

Aluminium Alloys At diameters from Ø10 mm upward, indexable gun drills are a productive choice for aluminium structural and powertrain components. Insert grade and geometry selection is critical to prevent built-up edge and maintain finish on high-silicon alloys.
